How can the divide between science and the humanities be bridged? This article describes a series of collaborative art projects initiated by the science librarian at the College of the Holy Cross, who worked with faculty from Visual Arts and Creative Writing. Participating faculty were eager to help design opportunities that would highlight student work as well as form alliances with the libraries. Singapore Management University (SMU) Libraries’ learning spaces are managed on the basis of an active collaboration between students and library staff. The SMU Libraries’ experience affirms Logan’s (2012) statement that “…intelligent collaborations between librarians and students is a partnership that enhances both the library and the students” (318). Beyond this, an outcome of the partnership between SMU students and library staff has created an evidence-based learning space design and management framework and brought about learning outcomes for both students and library staff. In New South Wales, Australia, rural landscapes are undergoing profound change as a result of exurbanization. Newcomers-amenity migrants-are drawn to the scenic beaches, forests, and open landscape character of this part of Australia near Sydney and they join existing communities of long-term residents, notably ranchers involved in dairy, beef, and other types of primary agricultural production. The rural to exurban transition is stimulating both intended and unintended socio-ecological changes, especially the proliferation of invasive weeds, which are considered to be a top national priority as they threaten Australia's agricultural economy. Exploring Engagement In Tasks In The Language Classroom, Jenefer Philp, Susan Duchesne

This article explores how learners engage in tasks in the context of language classrooms. We describe engagement as a multidimensional construct that includes cognitive, behavioral, social, and emotional dimensions of engagement among second and foreign language learners in the classroom. We discuss key concepts and indicators of engagement in current research on task-based interaction and outline some of the issues in researching engagement in this context.
