Relationship Among Emotional Intelligence, Parental Involvement And Academic Achievement Of Secondary School Students In Ibadan, Nigeria, Oyesojl A. Aremu, Adeyinka Tella, Adedeji Tella

This study investigated the relationship among emotional intelligence, parental involvement and academic achievement of 500 Senior Secondary School Students in Ibadan, Nigeria. The participants ranged in age between 14 and 18 years (M=16.5, SD. = 1.7). Two hypotheses were tested for significance at .05 margin of error, Using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and Multiple Regression Statistics. Results showed that both emotional intelligence and parental involvement could predict academic achievement. Similarly, there were significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement; and between parental involvement and academic achievement .The implications of these results for academic are discussed.

The relationship between student dispositions and content regarding historically marginalized cultures was studied. Research explored how the delivery by the teacher on challenging subjects would have a direct result on student dispositions and learning. The research supported the need to change the current approach of teaching United States history into a transformative model where students are challenged to think about history from different perspectives. The history of both bilingual education and science, the importance of bilingual education, a summarization of selected bilingual and ESL models, bilingual and science curriculum, supported bilingual research, standardized tests, science and ELL students, and in closing secondary bilingual research. This applied dissertation was designed to provide better access to current preparation strategies for passing the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) test. The test preparation strategies did not meet the needs of the students. The students did not know how to use the computer to study for the test and did not know how to study at home for the test. Teachers also did not know of the availability of electronic information to enrich their lessons and increase the achievement of vocational high school students.

The purpose of this study was to take an in-depth look at the decision-making process that an IEP team goes through regarding the reintegration of special education students. In particular, this study looked at the exiting criteria used by an IEP team in determining whether or not a student should be exited back into the general education classroom prior to graduation. Furthermore, using Raven's (1992) Power/Interaction Model as the theoretical framework, this study also looked at the beliefs, perceptions, and attitudes of an IEP team that were adopted through the processes involved in exiting students from special education programs.
