This study aims to examine how far media education for the 21st century skills are included in the new Palestinian science curriculum, to investigate the extent to which these curricula are able to create inhabitants who are skilled to live in this new knowledge era, information explosion, and handle with various media content. This study aims to produce a development product that is feasible and effective to use for science learning in schools. The product developed is an e-encyclopedia of mangrove ecosystems. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) model developed by Borg & Gall. The subjects of the limited trial consisted of 15 students of class VII. In comparison, the field trial consisted of 52 students from VII-G and VII-E of SMP IT Abu Bakar Yogyakarta. The data collection instruments included interviews, field observations, information literacy evaluation questions, and student environmental care attitude questionnaires. This article investigates ways in which student voice informed design research into information literacy instruction in a year-long graduate science education ePortfolio culminating project. Library and science education faculty partnered in a two-year project to create communities of secondary science education students, in two cohorts, who used the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education to support their own research and reflections into information literacy. This article highlights a case study that assesses how graduate-level, in-service science teachers engage in an ePortfolio social pedagogy ecosystem to document their growth in knowledge practices and dispositions in information literacy. The ePortfolio social pedagogy ecosystem and this study are situated within the context of the Catalyst Framework. The three modes of interrelated social learning activities include: (1) authoring the written ePortfolio in an online ePortfolio digital media platform, (2) presenting the ePortfolio in the webinar platform, and (3) presenting the ePortfolio in- person in a physical setting. This paper reports on a work in progress to address ABET program outcome ‘i’ (“graduates have a recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in, lifelong learning”) in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering programs (mid-size, undergraduate engineering program) at a large Master’s-granting university in the mid-western United States. One performance criterion used by the programs to assess program outcome ‘i’ is the ability to find, evaluate, and effectively use information independently. Grand Valley's School of Engineering recently invited the University Libraries to collaborate in an effort to address ABET outcome ‘i’, engaging in lifelong learning, in one of their first year core courses. The Libraries have recently developed an "Information Literacy Core Competencies" document, evolving out of the ACRL IL competencies standard adopted in 2000. Our collaboration has so far been a great exercise in exploring the effective intersection of ABET ‘i’ and information literacy competencies, in the context of incorporation into an existing course in GVSU's first-year engineering curriculum.

Over the last several years, the University Libraries' Research & Instruction Division librarians developed a set of "Information Literacy Core Competencies" (ILCCs), based on information literacy standards adopted by the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) in 2000. Competencies were locally revised and tailored specifically to complement the institution’s General Education Program skills goals. Session participants will be introduced to the Information Literacy Core Competencies document, and to the Liaison Librarians' goal of incorporating the ILCCs into their course support and classroom instruction.
