Keefektifan Model Pembelajaran Core Dengan Strategi Konflik Kognitif Ditinjau Dari Prestasi Belajar, Berpikir Kritis, Dan Self-Efficacy, Sri Wahyuni Ningsih, Sugiman Sugiman, Pika Merliza, Uke Ralmugiz

Strategy To Estimate Size, Hui Fang Huang Su, Dylan Mandolini, Bhagi Phuel, Shawlyn Fleming, Chloe Johnson Nov 2020

Strategy To Estimate Size, Hui Fang Huang Su, Dylan Mandolini, Bhagi Phuel, Shawlyn Fleming, Chloe Johnson

Transformations

Have you ever wondered exactly how much land and space are included in a national park? In this paper, we will explore the vastness of a fictitious Park and calculate its total area.

We will:

1. Create a fictitious Park, determine a scale that can be used to perform

calculations using a practical unit of measurement.

2. Develop a strategy that students can use to find the area of the Park.

3. Demonstrate the use of the strategy by solving for the area of the fictitious park.

Solving Logic Problems With A Twist, Angie Su, Bhagi Phuel, Chloe Johnson, Dylan Mandolini, Shawlyn Fleming Nov 2020

Solving Logic Problems With A Twist, Angie Su, Bhagi Phuel, Chloe Johnson, Dylan Mandolini, Shawlyn Fleming

Transformations

The crossroads of logic and mathematics breeds critically thinking students that have the confidence and independent working skills to tackle any problem they come across. In this artifact, several applications of logic to common problems have been applied in a way that would allow teachers to use the examples in their classrooms in a wide range of grade levels. More specifically Boolean Algebra and Truth Tables have been making their way into middle and high school mathematics classrooms with the nation's shift from just being able to compute to an understanding on a cognitive level why you solved the problem …

Lkpd Ipa Berbasis Learning Cycle 7e Terintegrasi Potensi Lokal Pantai Parangtritis Untuk Meningkatkan Critical Thinking Peserta Didik, Danik Noor Utami, Nurfina Aznam

Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan IPA

Critical Thinking In Curriculum: Designing An Instrument To Measure Identified Features, Claire Gershon May 2020

Critical Thinking In Curriculum: Designing An Instrument To Measure Identified Features, Claire Gershon

Honors Theses

Critical thinking is an increasingly important skill in our society and should be cultivated through education. Therefore, the curricula used in our schools should support students in developing critical thinking skills. This study aims to understand what aspects of curricula promote critical thinking, how to measure it, and whether or not current curricula meet these standards. After reviewing the literature, elements of curricula were identified as beneficial in promoting critical thinking. In teacher curricula materials, these are educative features such as identifying misconceptions, explanations of how to use formative assessment, and explanations of pedagogy. In student curricula materials, these educative …

An Interpretive Phenomenological Study Of Adult Students’ Subjective Theories Of Critical Thinking In Anatomy And Physiology, Elizabeth Anne Dubofsky-Porter Jan 2020

An Interpretive Phenomenological Study Of Adult Students’ Subjective Theories Of Critical Thinking In Anatomy And Physiology, Elizabeth Anne Dubofsky-Porter

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Critical thinking is a vital skill for the success of recent graduates, both to increase academic success and improve employability after graduation, especially in health science fields. However, many adult students fail to engage in critical thinking, especially in core courses such as anatomy and physiology (A&P). The purpose of this interpretive phenomenological qualitative study was to better understand adult students’ subjective theories regarding critical thinking and how adult students perceive the use of and any barriers or challenges to critical thinking in A&P while enrolled at Technical University. The theoretical framework that grounded this study was the Paul-Elder theory …

Me, Myself, And I: The Impact Of Metacognitive Strategies On Student Locus Of Control And Critical Thinking Skills, Danielle Kuchler

All Master's Theses

We live in an era when a college degree is essentially required for entry into good-paying careers, and yet achievement of a college degree is unacceptably low. Only 60% of students who enroll go on to graduate from 4-year colleges and universities in 6 years or fewer (National Center for Higher Education 2018). Why is this happening? What are the long-term intellectual and economic implications of ill-prepared students? We must ask ourselves if students are really prepared with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to be successful in college and whether those attributes are developed while in college. Two of the …
