ABSTRACT A MONTE CARLO STUDY INVESTIGATING MISSING DATA, DIFFERENTIAL ITEM FUNCTIONING, AND EFFECT SIZE by Phyllis Garrett The use of polytomous items in assessments has increased over the years, and as a result, the validity of these assessments has been a concern.
