Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)
The purpose of this qualitative case study was to investigate how police officers in a medium-size, suburban police department perceived performance appraisals and the effects of performance appraisals on job satisfaction and job performance. This study also examined the impacts of job satisfaction and job performance on organizations. Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)
This study examined the influence of age, work experience, education level, and score on a standardized pre-employment competency exam on the outcome of a pre-employment polygraph exam. Due to the strict selection requirements and competitive nature of sensitive government and public safety positions, organizations compete in the costly endeavor to hire qualified applicants efficiently and effectively. As these organizations fail to meet the required hiring levels, their responsibilities in public and national security cannot be carried out. This study was conducted in an effort to reduce the time and financial resources an organization must appropriate on applicants that cannot successfully …

The purpose of this study was to explore the predicament school principals face when formulating the best methodology to provide a safe environment for their students and faculty, while simultaneously creating an atmosphere that is conducive to education.
This multiple-case study is a replication of a dissertation published in 2014 which explored a unique phenomenon containing multiple variables within an urban public school district. Civil Society Education: International Perspectives, Roseanne Mirabella , Johan Hvenmark, Ola Larsson
Political Science Publications
Over the last few decades, the world has experienced an unprecedented growth in the size and scope of civil society organizations (Boli & Thomas, 1999; Kaldor, Moore, & Selchow, 2012).1 On par with these developments is the ever increasing significance of what these organizations assumingly can and should do to mitigate and solve some of the more pressing social and environmental issues we currently face locally and globally. Yet despite the growing numbers and allotted importance of civil society organizations, relatively little is known globally about how we prepare, train, and educate present and future leaders and professionals in these …

Student achievement has been measured in the United States for decades through the use of standardized state assessments. The purpose of this study was to examine which combination of 15 out-of-school community demographic variables best predicted and accounted for the most variance in a Connecticut school district’s percentages of students scoring goal or above on the 2010 Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) for the third through eighth grade in Mathematics (Math) and English Language Arts (ELA). Analyses were conducted using both a simultaneous regression model and a hierarchical regression model. This study looked at the entire population of districts that were …
