This study aims to identify the relationship between social media use and civic engagement among digital natives in Indonesia using the Grounded Theory method. The study involved 15 digital natives aged 18-24 who actively use social media, selected through a purposive sampling technique. The analysis in this study used NVivo version 12 Plus for MacBook. The study results show that social media use plays a vital role in the civic engagement of digital natives in Indonesia. Di era demokratisasi saat ini yang bercirikan adanya kebebasan berpendapat setiap warga baik secara lisan ataupun tertulis, maka fenomena hoax menjadi satu hal yang harus menjadi perhatian bersama. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian survey. Proses penyebaran berita dalam media sosial banyak melibatkan kaum perempuan. Hanya sebagian kecil saja yang mengakui sering mendapatkan berita-berita hoax tentang suku, agama, ras, dan antar golongan (SARA). Dengan demikian, maraknya penyebaran berita hoax di media sosial merupakan satu bentuk pembodohan masyarakat dan respons terhadap kemunculan berita hoax dengan cara melakukan tindakan perlawanan.

Peranan Media Sosial Dalam Pengembangan Melek Politik Mahasiswa, Yudha Pradana

This research is used quantitative approach and descriptive method. Instrument used by the research is skala Survey of Study Habits and Attitudes questionnaire to describing media social using by students and Likert Scale questionnaire to describing student's political literacy. Data analysis using Rank Spearman Order.
The result show that social media used by students 48% good, 26% fair, and 15% poor. Student's political literacy are 36% good, 43% fair, and 21% poor. The role of social media in the development of student's political literacy is 54,79% affected by social media, and 45,21% affected by other factors.
