Development And Implementation Of An Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral Intravenous Catheter Insertion Training Program For Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Nicholas Colangelo, Zachary Wise
Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects
The American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) has defined the scope of nurse anesthesia practice to include services in acute, chronic, and interventional pain management, as well as the use of ultrasound (U/S) and other diagnostic technologies. However, there are no standard curriculum requirements in place that mandate graduate programs to educate student nurse anesthetists in U/S-related modalities. In addition to the AANA, the use of U/S in nurse anesthesia practice has recently been adopted by The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA), which characterizes U/S use by its clinical impact on the reduction in complications, increased …
Social-Emotional Learning Strategies In Special Education: An Action Research Project On The Implementation Of The Ruler Approach To Support Social-Emotional Goals Of Tier-3 Intervention Students, Sonya Hayes
Masters Theses/Capstone Projects
Addressing students’ social-emotional development as it relates to the academic environment has become increasingly important to teachers, administrators, parents, and to the research community. The purpose of this action research study is to determine if the RULER Approach to Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is beneficial to students with disabilities as an intensive Tier 3 Intervention as they work towards self-regulation of their emotions in order to increase participation in classroom activities. There were two second grade students with diagnosed disabilities selected to participate in this study. In addition to their defined disabilities, they have also shown to have SEL needs that …
Authentic Low-Stakes Practice To Make Meaning Lasting For Ells: Creating Vocabulary Chants And Songs To Enhance The Word Generation Curriculum, Lori Cohen
Masters Theses/Capstone Projects
This curriculum creation is designed to supplement the Word Generation (WordGen) vocabulary program for middle school students. It adds songs and chants of the weekly focus words for use as a mnemonic device to remember and synthesize word meaning. The WordGen curriculum is heavily based on reading and writing and English Language Learners (ELLs) are at a disadvantage when tasked with learning and understanding academic vocabulary due to the short length of time for mastery (Cummins, 1999; Collier, 1987; Thompson, 2017). This curriculum is inspired by the desire to appeal to ELLs who would respond favorably to music or kinesthetic …

Athletic Training Education Reform, Caroline Hanson, Joan Rocks Dr.
Masters Theses/Capstone Projects
Athletic Training Education Programs are in the midst of major clinical and educational reforms following the release of the Strategic Alliance Degree Statement under the direction of the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Athletic Training has historically been a bachelor’s-level entry degree. The new degree standards under CAATE will make the profession a master’s-level entry degree. Limited research exists on how the Strategic Alliance Degree Statement and the transition of the degree will affect the profession of Athletic Training in the short or long term due to the limited number of programs who have already completed the …

The Pathophysiological Process Of Sepsis, Stefane Adams
Nursing Student Class Projects (Formerly MSN)
Sepsis is a medical emergency and can be a life-threatening illness that results as a complication from a severe infection, which occurs when chemicals that have been released into the bloodstream by the body’s defense system work to fight off an infection (Mayo Clinic, 2016). Sepsis is one of the leading causes of deaths in patients in the hospital setting worldwide, becoming more common than breast and bowel cancer combined (Nursing Times, 2014). Sepsis can affect anyone; however it is more common in the elderly or in individuals with weaker immune systems. Health care providers (HCPs) must fully understand this …
