There can be no more effective learning than that achieved by training systems to reduce death and injury. In such cases the imposition of a mandatory course would appear justifiable, especially where there is a history of unfortunate incidents and current rapid workforce growth. Installing learning as an imperative within a vibrant industry requires considerable negotiation between stakeholders to turn evidence into policy, industry intent, regulatory curriculum and subsequent workplace practice. Determining Industry Response To The Construction Induction Training In Wa, Susanne Bahn, Llandis Barratt-Pugh

This paper presents the results of a 2010 study on the effectiveness of the Construction Induction Training in Western Australia (previously known as the “Blue Card”). The findings indicate that the commercial construction sector values the development of the Construction Induction Training, are supportive of the mandatory nature of the training and believe that the training has not only increased their personal safety awareness but has contributed to a positive improvement in the safety culture on construction worksites.
