Introduction: Nursing mentoring relationships are vital to the advancement of personal and professional growth in nursing. Mentoring has been identified as an effective method to decrease turnover resulting in retention of experienced nurses. Despite the benefits of a mentoring relationship, barriers exist in creating and cultivating a formal mentoring program in the hospital setting.

Methods: A qualitative descriptive study approach that explored nurses’ perceptions of a mentoring culture within a hospital environment. Open-ended, conversational-style interviewing techniques with a semi-structured interview guide were utilized to gain a full description of nurses’ perceptions of a mentoring culture within a hospital environment.

Background: Nurse educators’ transition to a concept-based curriculum requires organizational and administrative support as well as collaborative teamwork. Implementing curricular changes can be challenging. One-on-one interviews were conducted with nurse educators who shared their perspectives on transitioning from a traditional to a newly adopted concept-based baccalaureate nursing curriculum.

In this study, we explored the experiences of nurse educators in academic and clinical settings during COVID-19 and the impact the pandemic has had on their work. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 15 nurse educators from six different countries and used thematic analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of nurse educators experiences during the pandemic. Incorporating interprofessional collaboration competencies into both undergraduate pre-licensure and graduate health science students poses challenges for academic health science centers. The impact of demographic, individual, and programmatic factors on burnout have not previously been determined in a national survey of emergency medicine residents. This study aimed to identify personal and environmental factors impacting resident burnout in a national sample of emergency medicine residents.

Methods: A prospective Emergency Medicine Resident Wellness Survey was administered in 2017. Nursing peer review is a professional practice in which nurses offer constructive, non-personal, practice-related feedback to fellow nurses. The use of nursing peer review has been recommended by the American Nurses Association (ANA 1988, 2014) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC 2008). Despite being recommended by professional organizations, the use of peer review in nursing has not been widely implemented. Self-reflection has been linked with clinical reasoning, academic, and clinical outcomes. The purpose of this study was to examine self-reflective journal entries from thirty students for interprofessional core competencies and for self-regulated learning components. The text data was analyzed using an in-depth three cycle coding process, thoroughly described in the methods. The findings were structured into two themes confirming interprofessional content learning: collaboration, team, and communication; and respect and roles. One additional theme emerged, transformation and relatedness, which indicated self-regulated learning components as well as supporting transformative learning.
