Occupational therapists are among the first providers to encounter individuals after an acquired brain injury (ABI). Evidence suggests that most occupational therapists learn about ABI-related vision disorders from continuing education and on-the-job training. A better understanding of entry-level curricula patterns for ABI-related vision disorders is important because of their high prevalence and impact on occupational performance. A descriptive online survey was administered to occupational therapy educators at ACOTE-accredited entry-level programs to explore curricula patterns for ABI-related vision disorders. Of 1,391 occupational therapy educators invited to participate, 71 (5%) began the survey, and 66 met the inclusion criteria. Vision screening methods …

In a small East Texas associate degree nursing program, the average pass rate for the National Council of State Board exam fell and was below both national and state averages for three years. In an effort to identify students who may need extra preparation prior to taking the licensure exam, the college administers the HESI Exit Exam during the last semester of the program. The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to understand the lived experience of academic remediation for medical students at an osteopathic medical school. Two theories guided this study: Bronfenbrenner and Ceci’s bioecological theory and Tajfel and Turner’s social identity theory. Research questions focused on understanding the emotional experience of failure within the medical education context, and the subsequent experience of involvement in the academic remediation process.
