Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest is a small primate sanctuary in Cle Elum, Washington, and is presently home to seven chimpanzees who were retired from biomedical research. I used this sanctuary as a case study to find out how a closed-to-the-public sanctuary can engage in educational outreach without compromising the welfare of the residents. I employed a combination of semi-structured interviews of sanctuary personnel, ethnographic participant-observation as a volunteer caregiver, and an online survey offered to the local community to help me understand the goals and limitations of sanctuaries. Analysis Of Some Variations In Method Of Performing The Push-Up Among College Women, Clifford T. Mito

This study utilized 90 college women from Central Washington University to determine if there are significant differences in strength scores between Rowney Knees-on Push-up Method and three body position variations and cadences. The main outcome of this research reflected two significant differences between Rowney's method and body position and cadences. No significant differences were found between experimental body position variations and cadences. The results of this study confirm the hypothesis that changes in push-up technique may produce significant differences in strength scores.

The purpose of this study was to determine the physical and chemical effects of the Cle Elum Reservoir on the Cle Elum River and to evaluate these effects in respect to the Ephemeroptera of the Cle Elum River. Specific objectives were: (1) To determine the effects of the reservoir on current velocity, volume of flow, turbidity, and temperature. (2) To determine the effects of the reservoir on alkalinity, hardness, dissolved oxygen, and pH. (3) To evaluate the effects of the reservoir on the Ephemeroptera of the Cle Elum River.

This study was limited to all ninth grade girls attending Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo, California. This study was limited to one administration of the questionnaire and one administration of the motor ability test per girl.

The study had two major purposes. One purpose was to determine if Covington Junior High School eighth grade pupils understood the basic ecological ideas and facts presented to them in a teacher-designed one semester course entitled Environmental Concepts Orientation (ECO). The second purpose was to find out the degree of competence attained by the eighth grade pupils as compared to tenth grade pupils taking a one year ecologically oriented course in the nationally developed Green Version BSCS biology series at Camas, Washington.

The purpose of this study is to develop norms for the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test in each somatotype classification as determined by the Heath-Carter anthropometric measurement. At the present time, norms exist only for the group as a whole which is comprised mainly of mesomorphs. This, of course, results in a great many endomorphs who score poorly, or not at all, and some ectomorphs who also do poorly. It is proposed that endomorphs, ectomorphs, and mesomorphs should each have their own norms.

In summary, the findings of this study are that the mountain beaver does exhibit preferences in his food habits. It selects for food just less than one-half of the available plant species. Three species are preferred over all others selected for food, those species being sword-fern, salal, and brake-fern.

Eighteen, 23 hour food deprived, self-stimulating rats were divided into two groups. One group received 20 ICS pulses as a reward for a correct response in a T-maze while the second group received a food reward. The subjects learned for food over 5 days of 10 massed trials per day, but failed to show learning for ICS either within sessions or over days. There was no difference in learning between rats with high bar press rates and those with low rates in either group.
