The intent of this study is to demonstrate how teacher collaboration can improve student learning. Research supports the relationship between teacher collaboration and academic success for students (DuFour & DuFour, 2004). Studies also show that a correlation between high achieving students is a direct result of teachers collaborating and having common goals for learning improvement (DuFour & Eaker, 1998). Therefore, collaboration among intermediate school teachers was studied (DuFour & DuFour, 2004). The focus of this project was to review the available research on using poetry as a method for teaching literary terms, enhancing comprehension, and developing creative writing skills. The results of the research show that there is a need for poetry instruction and that including this instruction in the middle school provides remarkable benefits for students. Poetry is suitable for the varying levels of ability found within the classroom. The project includes a guide providing teachers with activities to implement a poetry unit.

The focus of this project was to review the available research on repeated reading as a method of improving a student's oral reading fluency (ORF), to determine its contribution to the reading process, and to create an implementation guide for middle school teachers to use in their language arts classroom. The results of the research show that there is a need for effective repeated reading instruction. Including this instruction at the middle school level will provide tremendous benefits for students. A project was designed for secondary health students possessing learning disabilities in the areas of perceptual motor, motor active, and reading. After identifying the characteristics and remedial approaches for these learning disabilities, lesson plans and specific learning activities were developed for a unit on nutrition. A resource and materials section was included to assist regular secondary health classroom teachers with learning disabled students.

The purpose of this project is to develop for Winlock School District, a handbook for student and parent orientation into seventh grade. The project will include: 1) A review of recent trends and literature in the area of student and parent orientation; 2) a plan for implementation of the handbook; 3) handbooks for students and parents; and 4) an evaluation of the success of the handbooks.
