The Data Game, produced by Colorado State University (CSU) Libraries, is a web-based multimedia tutorial designed to teach basic research skills. Using interactive contests and animated presentations, The Data Game introduces and reinforces essential ideas. This paper discusses the tutorial's design, construction, and implementation.

Quantum chemistry has been a staple of undergraduate curricula for several decades. For the most part, however, it has been the rare course in quantum chemistry that advances much beyond the hydrogen atom (or perhaps H2) in terms of describing the electronic structure of real molecular systems. Driven in part by staggering advances in computer technology during the last 15 years or so, which have rendered possible on a laptop calculations that once would have taxed the largest mainframes available, this situation now seems to be changing (1–3).

This article discusses the efforts of two liaison librarians at William Russell Pullen Library, Georgia State University, to build a long-term, sustainable partnership among teaching faculty, graduate students, and librarians in the development and maintenance of a Web-based research guide for world history. The projects' goals are: to provide access to the resources available at Pullen Library; to serve as a gateway to resources available on the Internet; and to showcase student contributions, including bibliographies and annotations of Web sites. This paper describes my participation in the development and implementation of an online writing program at Associacao Alumni, a Binational Center in Sao Paolo, Brazil. The program, Writing On!, was Alumni’s first of many online programs that was developed by a team of teachers of writing.

Digital libraries populated with learning objects are becoming popular tools in the creation of instructional technologies. Many current efforts to create standard metadata structures that facilitate the discovery and instructional use of learning objects recommend a single, authoritative metadata record per version of the learning object. However, as we argue in this paper, a single metadata record — particularly one with fields that emphasize knowledge management and technology, while evading instructional issues — provides information insufficient to support instructional utilization decisions. Although andragogy became popularized in the 1970's and 1980's in the USA through the work of Malcolm Knowles, its original introduction into the USA was in 1926 by E.C.
