Instructional Logistics And Chunque-Based Learning Systems, Ian A. Mcarthur
Instructional Logistics And Chunque-Based Learning Systems, Ian A. Mcarthur
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Existing instructional design and curriculum design strategy components were synthesized to provide a comprehensive set of design models for the development of learning systems. The term instructional logistics was coined to define the management of student progress through a series of customized learning experiences. Strategies were developed for the design of student-centered learning systems by partitioning a curriculum into meaningful and manageable pieces (called chunques) and by manipulating those pieces to create personalized and individualized paths through a series of self-contained learning experiences. Strategies were developed to organize a collection of chunques into a path based on initial simplified mental …

Emerging Practices In K-6 Multimedia Methods Of Instruction In The Bethel School District, Gelnn E. Malone
Emerging Practices In K-6 Multimedia Methods Of Instruction In The Bethel School District, Gelnn E. Malone
All Graduate Projects
The purpose of this study was to assess and describB the conditions and practices in the Bethel School District's elementary schools with regard to the use of a multimedia approach to instruction. A sample of the 260 classroom teachers, 13 principals, and 13 learning resource center specialists in the Bethel School District's 13 elementary schools (K-6) were surveyed using questionnaires covering the implementation of multimedia methods of instruction. The results showed current multimedia methods of instruction are rare in the elementary classrooms of the Bethel School District because of a lack of technological inservice and current multimedia hardware.

Ann: A Set Of Educational Neural Net Simulators, Siripong Malasri, Stanley P. Franklin
Ann: A Set Of Educational Neural Net Simulators, Siripong Malasri, Stanley P. Franklin
Journal of the Arkansas Academy of Science
ANN has been developed on MS-DOS computers primarily for educational uses. Currently, it consists of six simulation programs. ANN1 is a very simple neural net which shows how a network learns by adjusting its connection weights. ANN2 is a single processing element neural net, in which the user trains the network manually by adjusting the connection weights and the threshold value. ANN3 is a manually trained simple two layered network. It demonstrates the power of hidden neurons. ANN4is a Bidirectional Associative Memory network. ANN5 is a Perceptron that learns from examples. ANN6 is a network based on the backpropagation of …
The Effect Of Computer-Assisted Instruction In Improving Mathematics Performance Of Low-Achieving Ninth-Grade Students, Thomas Everett Bailey
The Effect Of Computer-Assisted Instruction In Improving Mathematics Performance Of Low-Achieving Ninth-Grade Students, Thomas Everett Bailey
Dissertations, Theses, and Masters Projects
The purpose of this study was to determine whether computer assisted instruction of mathematics produces significantly greater improvement in mathematics performance of low achieving ninth grade students than teaching mathematics skills without computer assisted instruction.;The sample consisted of four classes (N = 46) of ninth grade students who had registered for the course "Mathematics Nine," and whose eighth grade ITBS scores fell between the 1st and 30th national percentile. Identified students were randomly assigned to one of four instructors and one of two instructional groups (computer assisted instruction or non computer instruction). Two classes with different instructors were taught the …
Characteristics That Determine The Holding Power Of Computer-Based Exhibits At Scitech Discovery Centre, Victoria Dodds
Characteristics That Determine The Holding Power Of Computer-Based Exhibits At Scitech Discovery Centre, Victoria Dodds
Theses : Honours
Scitech Discovery Centre is a hands-on science and technology centre located in the city West Complex, West Perth. The centre contains over 160 interactive exhibits including a number of computer-based exhibits that cover topics not easily incorporated in standard interactive exhibits. The problem considered in this study was the observed low percentage of visitors completing the programmes at seven of these computer-based exhibits. The author used unobtrusive observation and survey methods of data collection, for 245 visitors, on sundays over a three month period. The study was to determine two things, firstly the holding power of the exhibits, and secondly, …
The Effect Of Outlines, Headings And Summaries On The Recall Of Informational Text, John S. Latham
The Effect Of Outlines, Headings And Summaries On The Recall Of Informational Text, John S. Latham
Theses : Honours
The purpose of this study was to investigate various text-based ways of assisting Year Seven readers to enhance their recall of informational texts. The theory that was tested in this investigation is that text-based reading aids which secure the activation and rehearsal of relevant form and/or content schemata for written texts will enhance the recall of the content and structure of those texts. To investigate the comparative impact of the text conditions, 105 Year Seven students from a large primary school in a northern suburb of the Perth Metropolitan Area were ranked on the basis of their reading comprehension scores. …
