A group of enthusiastic and talented upperclassmen should be a prime factor in making the coming season a successful one for the Black Bear Swim Team. Several freshmen should help considerably, but the bulk of the success will rest with the returning swimmers.

In just six short years, the University of Maine at Orono hockey program has experienced just about every up and down there is. Two years ago, the team qualified for the ECAC Division I playoffs after only two years in the league. Previous to that, Maine had qualified for the Division II East tournament in 1979 after only two years as a varsity. On the other side of the coin, after losing 15 players to graduation last year, the Black Bears slipped to an 8-21 record and a last place finish in the ECAC.
