Con la globalización y la conectividad, las personas, sus idiomas y culturas entran en contacto a veces chocando entre sí; produciendo prácticas lingüísticas híbridas. El multilingüismo crítico y el translanguaging/ translenguajear son herramientas poderosas que nos pueden guiar para navegar la hibridación cultural y la diversidad semiótica. Esta ponencia explora cómo docentes de Inglés como lengua extranjera en Colombia utilizan el multilingüismo crítico y el translanguaging/ translenguajear (García & Li Wei, 2014) como herramientas de descolonizar sus propias ideologías y prácticas docentes.

This study explores the experiences of international students within their learning environment and the community at large from the vintage point of being second, third, or fourth language speakers of English. Six undergraduate participants ( three male and three female) were selected from five disciplines and·one undeclared major at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. A phenomenological interviewing process was used to explore the experiences of the non-native English speakers. Three sixty-minute interviews were conducted with each of the participants and later transcribed. Ranking: a one dimensional quantitative judgment--as with grading. A one dimensional quantitative score can never be an accurate reflection of the quality of a multidimensional product (like writing and many other human products).
Evaluation: a multidimensional judgment--using words or providing a multidimensional grid. Judging allows for more trustworthy assessment of writing and many other products.
Liking. This section explores the benefits that come when teachers actually learn to *like* student work--and indeed to like students--and how one can learn to like work even if one judges it to be not very good.
