For decades, farmers and ranchers learned best practices and better ways to raise their crops and livestock through printed publications and in-person gatherings called field days. Both methods were spearheaded by scientific experts from the university and delivered by extension agents. They were — and are — efficient and successful means of sharing knowledge. Whatever their individual choices, person-to-person contact remains at the center of their communication. The difference is in the delivery.

This paper examines the issues of general and Information Literacy among first year students at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown, Dublin, Ireland in the School of Engineering and Computing. It specifically looks at the first year Diploma in Horticulture intake and briefly compares these to other cohorts in the school. It seeks to tentatively establish the percentages of students who are presenting with literacy difficulties. It suggests interventions that may help to remediate the problems for some students and help them fulfil their potential.

Journal of Adventist Libraries and Archives

This paper looks at librarian/course instructor collaboration in higher education and draws specific lessons from the two-year experience of a librarian embedded into an advanced college writing class. The case study pays particular attention to how collaboration influences students' development of research and writing skills and attitudes, and the instructional design of the course.
