This paper examines the structure of the Nevada legislature and how interest groups influence the policy making process. In particular, this paper aims to answer the questions of how interest groups are able to make a difference in the legislative process and how those groups are able to gain access to the political environment in the state. By understanding how interest groups advocate for certain policies, the best methods to engage citizens in the political process can be understood. Widespread participation by women in higher education is something that many people in my generation take for granted. While women now outnumber men on the DePauw campus by about a 55 to 45 ratio, that is a remarkably recent phenomenon. Nearly 150 years ago four fearless women came to Greencastle to pave the way for thousands of women who followed by the 1990s.
