The purpose of this study is to provide descriptive and statistical data to identify any differences in three college divisions of men's basketball and baseball student athletes as they related to career decision making in their career interest, academic major and grade point average.
Concepts of this study were originally tested by Dr. Joseph Scott Paul (1986) in his doctoral dissertation, The Intercollegiate Athlete as a Student in Higher Education: An Analysis of Career Expectations, Interests, and Academic Majors.

The effectiveness of Eastern Illinois University's reinstatement policy was investigated in an attempt to determine what criteria were used to establish the current reinstatement policy and to further decide whether or not the criteria used have been accurate in predicting academic success for reinstated students at this institution. Chi-square analysis was used to assess the relationship, if any, between 14 variables and academic success following reinstatement: (1) quality point deficiency (QPD), (2) grade level at the time of dismissal, (3) race, (4) gender, (5) number of semesters in attendance prior to dismissal, (6) community college attendance during the absence from …

This study of professional women holding advanced degrees examined the influence of doctoral education and the perceived effects on women and their interpersonal relationships with significant others. It was found that half of the women believed that their level of education affected their relationship status. Though there were a group of women who reported that their level of education limited them in their interpersonal relationships, the majority of the women reported being in gratifying relationships with supportive significant others. Factors Influencing Choice Of Major Of Eastern Illinois University Students, Carolyn A. Horsman

Factors influencing choice of major of Eastern Illinois University students were investigated. Qualitative reasons and positive influence of individuals by roles were measured with weighted responses. The results indicated that course content, special abilities in the field, employment opportunities, the opportunity to work with people, and the opportunity to contribute to society were ranked as most important. The roles of mother/step-mother, father/step-father, high school teacher, and college teacher were ranked as most influential. Females ranked the opportunity to work with people and the opportunity to contribute to society as the most important reasons with the mother/step-mother role as most influential. …
