In this “Teaching Team Leadership through Experiential Activities” session—sponsored by the Leadership Special Interest Group—participants will learn different team leadership activities that can be used in teaching different leadership theories and concepts. The facilitators will use the following process in presenting these activities to innovative session attendees: discuss and present the activity (listen and learn), have participants experience the activity (practice using it hands on), and provide attendees the opportunity to discuss their experiences with others in small groups (reflection). Receiving the benefits of postsecondary education is important to nations throughout the world. A more educated citizenry results in, among other things, less crime and poverty, increased physical and mental health of individuals, and greater economic growth (e.g., American Human Development Project, 2009; Pascarella, & Terenzini, 2005). The English word reflection is derived from reflectere, “to bend back” – as a mirror bends back the light, making apparent what is otherwise hidden or mysterious (Johnson, 2006). Reflection bends the light of our experiences back into our minds, to consider what the experience was about and what it meant.
