Cost Benefit Analysis Of Led Vs Florescent Lighting, Kurtis Clark, Phillip Humphrey
Student Research
Over the last few years, the state of Oklahoma has been looking at ways to reduce expenses to address concerns about a budget deficit. Making Outreach The Library’S Mission, April Miller
Faculty Articles & Research
University and community outreach is an important part of library services, which fosters cohesiveness while involving adequate community support. This paper examines how outreach has become an important part of the library’s mission. Many outreach examples include the partnering of libraries with university departments, offices, and organizations. Other examples include university libraries partnering with community groups, museums, and non-profits. Currently outreach projects are carried out across all libraries, however, a greater emphasis is placed on the recent outreach accomplished at Southwestern Oklahoma State University Libraries.

Faculty Articles & Research
Description: Since the acquisition of the Berkeley Electronic Press (bepress) by Elsevier last summer, there has been much discussion online, in listserves, and elsewhere about what that development means for the future of open access and scholarly communications. The people most directly affected are the users of the bepress DigitalCommons repository hosting service. Some have recoiled in horror at the new ownership situation, others are waiting to see what happens next. This is a panel discussion by current users concerning what they see in the road ahead, including what they regard as essential services, possible options, functionality requirements, and …

History Mysteries: Crowdsourcing To Involve Alumni With Swosu's Institutional Repository, Phillip Fitzsimmons, April Miller
Faculty Articles & Research
Crowdsourcing is the strategy Southwestern Oklahoma State University Libraries is using to fill in the gaps for many unidentified images in the SWOSU Digital Commons (https://dc.swosu.edu/). A photo gallery was created of some of the repository's unidentified images of persons, events and activities. An intriguing title - "History Mysteries" - was chosen to attract attention, and the page requested help from the public in identifying the unnamed items in the photographs. SWOSU Libraries began promoting the page during he SWOSU Homecoming in 2016, which was the 20th anniversary of winning the NAIA Football Championship. The increased number of alumni visiting …

Allegorical Reference To Oxford University Through Classical Myth In The Early Poetry Of Dorothy L. Sayers: A Reading Of “Alma Mater” From Op.I.., Barbara L. Prescott
Mythlore: A Journal of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams, and Mythopoeic Literature
Dorothy L. Sayers is rarely considered to be an author of mythopoeic literature or one whose own writings contain the metaphors or allegories of myth and legend. Yet, as a young adult at Oxford University, Sayers produced a variety of poems that, centering upon Oxford and her experiences as a student, explored mythic themes as they related to the university. Her early poems, written while an undergraduate at Oxford and directly afterward, were built upon three motifs: classical mythology, mediaeval legend, and Christian romanticism. These Oxford-centered poems were included in Dorothy L. Sayers’s first book titled, OP. I., published …
