The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship of instructional methods utilized in community colleges in the State of Kansas as compared to a random sampling of secondary schools in Southeastern Kansas. Also included in the study was an analysis of word processing courses currently offered with respect to software packages being taught. In addition, change in enrollment and if general education courses included a course in word processing were also studied.

Reading has long been recognized as a necessary skill but only recently has there been much interest in listening skills even though listening is the most frequently used language activity. Within the past decade many studies have indicated that listening ability correlates highly with intelligence, vocabulary, and report card grades, and some investigators claim that listening training will improve listening ability. If listening ability correlates positively with report card grades then listening training should aid academic achievement.

The problem is to compare two methods of teaching basic electricity, one being the 3-E Experimenter method by McKnight and McKnight Co., and the other being the “lecture-demonstration and project” method used at the Kansas State College of Pittsburg to instruct the class “Applied Electricity 140” (spring 1964-1965). The two methods will be compared according to the following criteria: the students’ level of initial learning; project construction quality; project reports; direct observation.

The purpose of this study was to determine the improvements needed in the professional education curricula for elementary teachers at Kansas State Teachers College, Pittsburg, Kansas. Questionnaires were sent to 114 persons who had been graduated from K.S.T.C. since 1940. The questionnaire requested the respondents to evaluate the education and psychology course offerings in the light of their value to an elementary teacher. Study reports findings and recommendations for improvement.
