Responsible local educational and community leaders determined in 1961 that all legal criteria for the establishment of a community college in Walla Walla [Washington] had been met. They subsequently have been faced with many phases of preplanning activity. Among the problems requiring solution have been: the acquisition of adequate physical facilities, the determination of an operational financial plan, the establishment of accurate and efficient enrollment procedures, and the organization of an instructional and administrative staff. The object of this study has been to discover Crane's indebtedness to his newspaper apprenticeship. The investigation has been concerned with all phases of Crane's life and art, but special emphasis has been placed on his newspaper experience.

Anderson Hall is a dormitory on the campus of Central Washington University. It was completed in 1962 and remains in use today. It was initially a women's residence, but today is co-ed.

Its namesake, Mabel T. Anderson, was a student and, later, a professor at Central. She enrolled in 1916 and two years later became the third grade teacher in the campus training school. After earning a master’s degree at Teacher’s College, Columbia University, she returned to Central and taught in the education program until 1963.
