This paper presents an overview of the suite of online interactive tutorials that have been developed at the Institute of Technology Tallaght (ITT Dublin); with a particular emphasis on best practices for pedagogy and instructional design in terms of creating eLearning tools. The author also details how these learning objects have been made available for reuse on a national and international basis as open educational resources via online repositories

A 2005 sabbatical explored the different Curriculum Materials Centers and Collections in academic institutions in the State of Michigan. In 2014, the current conditions of these special libraries for pre-service teacher candidates was performed. Research revealed numerous changes, including closures, reductions, and reevaluations. This poster attempts to place the research in a visual format.

This session focuses on digital collections at the University of Dayton Libraries and how it has evolved from using a stand-alone digital asset management system (CONTENTdm) to a flexible, robust, open-access institutional repository solution hosted by Berkley Electronic Press (Bepress). We share our trials and errors from our first digitization initiatives that began in 2006, to the launch of our first digital collection using CONTENTdm in 2010, to the implementation of our IR, eCommons, in 2013. Parker Palmer speaks of the “privatization of teaching” as one of the factors that prevent faculty from growing “more fully into the demands of the teacher’s craft.” At the same time, new methodologies of teaching and learning are changing the landscape of higher education. Because of privatization, faculty and TA are often unaware of how learning works and continue to rely heavily on lecture. During this interactive session, participants will learn how an eight-week “course” known as the Teaching Academy transformed participants’ attitudes towards learning-centered teaching.
