The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors which led to a reduction in force and the procedures which were used in reducing certified personnel by 14% in the Roxana Community Unit School District #1 in 1976. The school board had used a RIF policy with which it was pleased, but which had made teachers unhappy. As illustrated by the title, this field experience included two major areas: (1) an administrative internship and (2) the development of a high school curriculum guide and the updating of course descriptions for the author's school district.

The administrative internship was established for the purpose of giving the author as much first-hand administrative experience as possible. The purpose of this field study is to explore the need for a building program, to give recommendations for the best building site and why, and to check the feelings of the community on the passing of a referendum in Community Unit #3, Palestine, Illinois.

This study included an evaluation of both the elementary and the high school buildings. This included the condition and availability of classroom space and special education space.

This field study is a descriptive analysis of the creation and operation of a general advisory council currently functioning in the Witt Unit School District Number 66, Witt, Illinois. Included within this field study is a description of the procedures used to create the Advisory Council and an analysis of the current operations of the Council along with recommendations for its continued operation.

The field experience consisted of updating the needs assessment and the Title I Project Proposal for the 1978-79 school year for Pittsfield Community Unit District #10.

One measure of the level of achievement for the students was the use of the 1977 results of the annual testing program. Test scores from the Metropolitan Readiness Test for grade one, the S.R.A. Achievement Test for grades two through eight, and the California Achievement Test for grades nine through twelve were used. During the school year 1976-77, Decatur School District #61 completed the desegregation of the schools so that they were in compliance with the plans drawn up for the State of Illinois under direction of the State Board of Education and State Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Joseph Cronin. This paper is an account of the programs instigated and carried out during the second year the Decatur plan was in operation in Orville Spencer School, Decatur, Illinois.
