Research shows that Catholic schools are important factors that contribute to the proliferation of the faith (Gray, 2014). Additionally, studies reveal that effective principals have a positive impact on student achievement and school improvement (Leithwood et al., 2004; Waters et al., 2003). Because effective leaders are vital to the success of Catholic schools, it is logical to deduce the importance of investing in robust leadership development and succession programs to ensure the longevity of both Catholic schools and the Church.
