Adapted Physical Education: Where Does It Stand?, Danielle M. Wilkins

Sixty-six teachers were surveyed regarding adapted physical education. The three types of teachers surveyed were physical education, special education, and general education. The teachers' perceptions to the importance and necessity of adapted physical education were analyzed. The findings showed most physical education teachers felt training was inadequate in their preservice program, as well as in professional development to teach students with disabilities. Discussion of the results and implications for further research are provided.

This qualitative study investigated potential perceptions of educators from a Southwest Missouri school district regarding a transition from a traditional school calendar to a year-round school structure. Through semi-structured interviews, reflective field notes, and researcher observations, this study descriptively interpreted data from nine individual interviews. Analysis provided a comprehensive review of the salient themes uncovered in hope of informing the affected district and those interested in current teacher perceptions of this educational change and acting as a catalyst for further dialogue surrounding the concept of year-round education. Many teachers in a low socioeconomic school district in Florida struggle with differentiating instruction for the large at-risk population; however, one school has been identified as a high functioning school. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to investigate how classroom teachers at the high functioning school are differentiating instruction and how their reading coaches are supporting the teachers in designing instructional interventions. This project study addressed the problem of 3rd grade English language learners (ELLs) not passing the state mandated reading test at the same rate as other students between 2009 and 2013 in Georgia. The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of an elementary school's afterschool program (ASP) on ELLs' reading achievements and to investigate 3rd grade afterschool teachers' perceptions of the reading curriculum using a mixed methods explanatory sequential design.
