Innovation Within Regulations: Gaining Insight On Cultivating Employee-Led Innovation In California Public-Sector Organizations, Rebecca N. Franklin

The inquiry concerned gaining insights into environmental elements needed within California public-sector organizations to increase employees’ willingness to share innovative ideas. Although research exists regarding the need for service innovation and employees as fruitful sources of innovative ideas, there have been limited studies concerning public-sector organizations and the best method to solicit employee ideas. The data collection for this qualitative research study consisted of a series of interviews with front-line, non-supervisory civil servants. The results provide insights and information on how public-sector organizations may foster a culture that promotes and encourages employee-led innovation. The purpose of my Capstone was to look at small group dynamics and the factors that have a profound impact upon them. I used Bryant University’s IDEA Program as the template for my project for, and arena from which I collected my research. The IDEA Program is a three-day ideation and innovation program that all first-year students are required to participate in. I observed, filmed and questioned twenty-five of the first-year students participating in the program. A Study Of Personality And Student Involvement On The College Campus, Kera Bisson

This study examined optimism and locus of control and their relationship to student involvement on and off-campus. The participants were 94 undergraduate students, male and female, ages 18 to 22. Participants completed three scales; Optimism Scale, Locus of Control Scale, and Involvement Scale. The results were analyzed using a correlational matrix. Optimism was significantly related to student involvement. Locus of control, contrary to predictions, was not significantly related to student involvement. Conclusions are drawn about optimism’s role in student involvement and about how student involvement may increase optimism.
