VXR technology has seen significant growth in recent years across all commercial industries and is poised to continue that trend. The graphic design industry is embracing XR as a new medium, and XR skills are in high demand within the field. Institutions of higher education must adopt XR—and particularly AR—into the graphic design curriculum to keep pace with the industry. "Storytelling with Archives" is a transdisciplinary Honors College course developed as part of the Honors College Faculty Fellows program. Primarily STEM majors, most students took the course to fulfill a “creativity and the arts” course requirement.

Students developed confidence in their own voice and creativity along with practical digital literacy skills through the practice of digital storytelling. Lessons combined soft skills such as listening, consensus building and historical empathy with digital production, and the theory and practice of story work applied to their disciplines.

Background: Rural health care sites struggle to attract new nurses, owing to a widespread perception that the hardships of rural practice far outweigh the benefits. Preceptorships are a key means of recruiting nursing staff to rural locations, but innovative, firsthand messaging is needed to promote rural preceptorships and nursing careers. Objectives: The researchers sought to elicit compelling, multimedia, firsthand accounts of the challenges and opportunities of rural preceptorship through participant action.
