For years, scientists have been trying to measure the quality of scholarly work by the number of times an article is cited in other articles or the impact factor of the journal which published an article. This study propose a “Modified Kardashian index” (MK-index), a measure of discrepancy between a scientist’s publication record and social media based on the Hall (2014) K-index. A direct comparison of numbers of citations on Google Scholar and Twitter followers, are used to measure the MK-Index.
