ACER General Ability Tests (AGAT) is a series of tests designed to assist teachers of students aged seven to sixteen years (approximately Year 2 to Year 10) in their assessment of students' general reasoning ability. There are nine AGAT test booklets that have been developed especially -but not exclusively - for use in Australian schools. Each of the tests assesses students' reasoning skills in three areas: Verbal; Numerical; Abstract (visual).

The Australian Council for Educational Research (A.C.E.R.) is a not-for-profit organisation that works with Australian and international governments to develop and improve learning and assessment practices. In 2012 A.C.E.R. was contracted by the Victorian government to undertake research in the assessment of critical and creative thinking skills for students aged 8 to 18. Over 300 test items were developed for this purpose and these items were used to form a developmental scale for thinking. With 10 per cent of students now sexually active by the age of 14, it is time we took sex education seriously, according to comedian Mark Butler. A recent report by Marie Stopes International found that Australian students are not getting adequate sex education in school. Some are not getting any at all and those who do get it often get it too late. The most important innovation in e-learning in recent years has been the development of Learning Design software. Learning Design is based on the process' of learning rather than on the content to be learnt. The Learning Activity Management System (LAMS) is a new public domain, e-learning platform that enables educators to plan and implement sequences of collaborative learning activities. These 'learning sequences' are analogous to the traditional lesson plans that have always been an integral part of quality teaching.
