Construct Validation Of A Learning Resources Rubric [Lrr]: A Modified Delphi Study, Lei Wang, Andrew Feldstein, Tiffany Koszalka
Construct Validation Of A Learning Resources Rubric [Lrr]: A Modified Delphi Study, Lei Wang, Andrew Feldstein, Tiffany Koszalka
SACAD: John Heinrichs Scholarly and Creative Activity Days
This study delivers a comprehensive exploration of the construct validation of the LRR, employing a Modified Delphi study coupled with Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling to analyze data. Through rigorous analysis involving 576 expert instructional designers, the study achieves consensus on the LRR’s multifaceted indicators, evidenced by high I-CVI values, confirming their relevance, appropriateness, and robustness. The combination of quantitative and qualitative data, including surveys, focus groups, and online document analysis, establishes the rubric’s validity and points to areas for refinement. Grounded in alignment with three well-established deeper learning theories (Generative Learning Theory, Cognitive Flexibility Theory, and Reflection …
Ungrading’S Affect On Student Agency In The Education Classroom, Linda E. Feldstein, Robyn Hartman, Janet Stramel
Ungrading’S Affect On Student Agency In The Education Classroom, Linda E. Feldstein, Robyn Hartman, Janet Stramel
SACAD: John Heinrichs Scholarly and Creative Activity Days
This study investigates the impact of ungraded classroom evaluation structures on students' development of agency for learning. Through survey research comparing traditionally graded classes with those employing ungrading practices, student responses are analyzed. Results suggest potential increases in student agency among those in ungraded classes. This challenges prevailing education practices, highlighting the shift towards student-centered, formative learning experiences when agency is actively encouraged.

Ungrading emphasizes formative feedback over summative judgment, promoting intrinsic motivation and student agency. While implementing ungrading requires effort, the benefit to students and teachers is significant.
Capstone Projects In Education: Learning The Research Story, Kim Chappell, Greg Voykhansky J.D., Ph.D.
Capstone Projects In Education: Learning The Research Story, Kim Chappell, Greg Voykhansky J.D., Ph.D.
All Open Educational Resources
This book is designed to facilitate understanding of education research and guide the development and the writing of a capstone project. In education, like other social sciences, we are investigating issues directly involving or influencing humans. Research involving humans can be a complex and awkward endeavor. However, if we view this endeavor through the lens of a research story, we find a familiar genre we can relate to and understand. This concise, open textbook weaves the story of a cat throughout to explain the components of typical education capstone projects.
Is It Actually Reliable? Examining Statistical Methods For Inter-Rater Reliability Of A Rubric In Graduate Education, Brent J. Goertzen, Kaley Klaus
Is It Actually Reliable? Examining Statistical Methods For Inter-Rater Reliability Of A Rubric In Graduate Education, Brent J. Goertzen, Kaley Klaus
Leadership Faculty Publications
When evaluating student learning, educators often employ scoring rubrics, for which quality can be determined through evaluating validity and reliability. This article discusses the norming process utilized in a graduate organizational leadership program for a capstone scoring rubric. Concepts of validity and reliability are discussed, as is the development of a scoring rubric. Various statistical measures of inter-rater reliability are presented and effectiveness of those measures are discussed. Our findings indicated that inter-rater reliability can be achieved in graduate scoring rubrics, though the strength of reliability varies substantially based on the selected statistical measure. Recommendations for determining validity and measuring …

The purpose of this survey study was to collect faculty perceptions toward changes made to the faculty merit evaluation process in a college of education at a state comprehensive university. The changes in the evaluation occurred over a two-year period, where a formative rubric and faculty self-assessment were incorporated into the merit instrument. The sampling frame for the study included the college of education faculty members at the university. The data for the study were collected in two different phases using a field-tested online survey that was created to collect the faculty perceptions of the newly developed instrument and process …
