This report describes an internship completed at the Business Affairs Office, Grand Rapids Public Schools, Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the summer of 1977.

An internship in the Business Affairs Office was chosen to enrich the intern's conceptual, human, and technical skills pertaining to school business and finance management. The intern actively participated in the daily activities and responsibilities of each of the nine departments which compose the Business Affairs Office. The development and writing of a program of school-community relations for the Jenison Public Schools led to a review and search of Board of Education policies, administrative memoranda, books and pamphlets, writing of authorities in the field, and attendance at a one-week seminar in Denver, Colorado sponsored by NSPRA. After a review of these materials, participation in the seminar, and consultation from professional educators and authorities in the school public relations field, a program of school-community relations for the Jenison Public Schools was developed.

The purpose of this study was to determine the personnel, hardware, software, and space requirements for an ideal learning resource center at Crowder College and to prepare a written plan for reaching this goal. The achievement of this plan would be spread over a five year period.

The existing learning resource program at Crowder College is shown to include well-established library services and very limited media services. A full description of the existing learning resources program is given and its relationship to the rest of the college is shown.

Basic research into the observation and evaluation of elementary teachers in Illinois was conducted during the 1976-77 school year. The research was divided into two major sections. Section I consisted of the development and administration of a 42-question survey instrument designed to probe observations, evaluations, and elementary teachers' opinions concerning such. The sample universe was restricted to full-time elementary classroom teachers taking graduate courses. Section II consisted of obtaining and analyzing evaluation instruments from various size and type school districts in Illinois. Significant findings of the research include:

The purpose of this field experience was to examine and compare student and teacher opinions concerning the shortened school day in the Charleston Community Unit School District No. 1.

On January 5, 1977, the Charleston School Board of Education voted to enforce a five-hour school day schedule effective January 24, 1977. In this study the writer wanted to poll student and teacher opinions in regard to the shortened school day. Comparisons were then made in relation to their opinions.

The primary purpose of this paper is the acquisition of a broad base of knowledge and varied practical experience pertinent to becoming an effective administrative leader in the future. This paper describes the internship program. On June 23, 1972, the Congress passed Title IX of the Education Amendments. Under Title IX "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance . . . ." This law affects virtually every institution of education in the country.

Elementary schools should be in compliance with Title IX this year, 1977. Secondary schools have until July 21, 1978, to fully comply.

The process is broken down chronologically and covers a three year period. This paper deals with the evolution of a construction project which was undertaken by application through the Elementary and Secondary School Capital Assistance Program enacted in 1973. The study began in November of 1973 with work on the initial application and continues to the construction phase of the project which was reached in September of 1977. The Optimum Learning in Regular Classrooms Project is an adoptive-adaptive ESEA Title IV-C project with two purposes: (1) to provide more effective educational service to children with special needs through training the mainstream teacher to diagnose these special needs as well as implement solutions for such children on an ongoing basis, and (2) to provide more efficient support services to the mainstream teacher in his/her efforts to meet the special needs of exceptional children, whether handicapped or gifted.
