A hallmark of being Catholic is a concern for and dedication to those in need and our service to others. Jacqueline Kelleher, faculty member in the Isabelle Farrington College of Education at Sacred Heart University, discusses how her studies of the Catholic intellectual tradition moved her to become a member of the Bridgeport Board of Education, Connecticut's largest, poorest, lowest achieving school district.

The report released by the Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute™ at MVU examines existing policies and practices related to the evaluation and approval of online and blended learning in the 50 states as well as relevant international examples, such as those arising from Canada’s province-based K-12 education systems.

Over the last six months, the Isabelle Farrington College of Education has been adding new programs and improving existing ones. These include cross-endorsement in Comprehensive Special Education for certified teachers in Connecticut. We are also gearing up for an Ed.D. strand in Higher Education to begin fall 2015. Designed for working professionals, this program prepares them for careers in higher education administration, as well as for teaching roles within post-secondary and corporate environments. Our second strand of the Ed.D. Program is in PK-12 educational leadership. This strand, which includes Connecticut Superintendent (093) certification, is slated to begin fall 2016, pending …
