Southwestern Indian Tales For Children, Maurine Parker Grammer

The purpose of this study was two-fold; first, to record Southwestern Indian folk tales from primary sources to use as supplementary reading in the social studies for the age group from eight to twelve years; second, to edit the tales in order to make them readable and meaningful for this group.

The present study contains adaptations of tales from their primary sources. The form and language of the tales varies from that which characterizes the original version only enough to improve their readability.

The purpose of this study is to propose for Metcalfe County a school system that will come nearer meeting the standards of a good educational system than the one now in use. It is by no means expected that this proposed system will be perfect and the writer fully realizes that oftentimes a scheme on paper will not work out so well when actually put into practice. However, being acquainted with the amount of money available, the geographic and economic conditions, and the roads of the county it is the best that can be done under existing circumstances.

An Investigation Of The New Scott-Foresman Basic Reading Tests, The Lee-Clark Reading Readiness Test, The Lee-Clark Reading Tests, And The Gates Reading Readiness Test In Primary Grades, Milton A. Dallman

There were four purposes for the study: 1. To determine the interrelationships existing between the primary grade tests within the New Scott-Foresman Basic Reading test series. 2. To determine the relative efficiency of two reading readiness tests, the Lee-Clark test and the Gates test, in predicting children’s later success in reading. 3. To determine the relative efficiency of the Lee-Clark Reading Test: Primer and the Lee-Clark Reading Test: First Reader in predicting subsequent success in reading. 4. To establish norms for the New Scott-Foresman Basic Reading Tests that may be used in the community in which the study was conducted.
