Higher Education in the United States is a complex industry with fierce competition. A university’s success and momentum are impacted by numerous internal and external factors. The level of an institution’s philanthropic support often mirrors the level of its overall success. Concerns exist over the continued financial affordability of Christian higher education for students. Prior research has identified a correlation between various institutional characteristics and the generation of philanthropic support. Social Enterprise And Christian School Finance: Receptivity Of Acsi Christian School Leaders In Mid-America, Eric D. Schroeder

This pioneering study draws on literature from both the educational and the nonprofit sectors to integrate the concept of social enterprise with the financial challenges faced by Christian schools. It then explores the receptivity of administrators and board chairmen of Association of Christian Schools International affiliated schools in the Mid-America region to social enterprise based fund raising practices. Findings show that while school leaders are cautious overall, interest varies widely with some school leaders being very receptive and other very opposed to these approaches. Problem. Small church-related colleges and universities are experiencing financial difficulties. This study assesses the institutional advancement programs at selected Seventh-day Adventist colleges and universities. The purpose of this examination was to analyze "what is" to determine the present-day process of the advancement function, and what "ought to be." These data will also suggest potential areas for growth and development.
