This edition of AJCE brings together discussions on the various roles and effectiveness of research and community engagement programs in strengthening local identity, developing skills, and enhancing quality of life towards a resilient society. Expanding such roles, this issue consists of four research articles, one review article, and three case-based articles. The authors of this edition emerge from the background of language, engineering, economy, policy, education, and health, providing different outlooks and methods in overseeing the processes of community-related programs.

This paper illustrates the implementation of a community project developed based on a partnership between the community and the local university in Bungo and Tebo Regencies. The project aims to develop the local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as a strategic step to increase the regional economy, taking the form of a so- called Community–University Partnership Program in Bungo and Tebo Regencies. The Community–University Partnership methodology employs the Service Learning (SL) method to increase MSME actors’ competence in terms of financial literacy, product packaging, and marketing. This article discusses a community engagement program that supports housewives as financial managers in difficult times, like COVID-19 Pandemic. This paper believes in the capacity of housewives, particularly in managing the financial conditions of the domestic. The pandemic conditions affect the world in multiple aspects and levels. Physical distancing as one of the policies applied had a wide impact, especially in the economic sector, globally and locally.
