The purpose of this paper is to provide insight on the community model of rehabilitation for individuals with mental health disorders in Chile with a specific focus on schizophrenia. Stigmas surrounding mental health are still very prevalent in this society. These stigmas make it difficult for patients to integrate themselves into society, and in turn, add stress to the patients’ families, who must support and care for them. This research is the study of the intersection between queerness and disability within the context of Amsterdam Gay Pride, specifically the Canal Parade. The study examines the intersection between LGBT identity and physical disability at the event and in surrounding organization and events within the Amsterdam LGBT community. The primary research question was: how does Amsterdam Canal Pride’s accessibility affect both the positioning of the LGBT and disabled identifying community in Amsterdam and the relevance of the event as a place of activism and celebration? Usé principalmente las entrevistas para descubrir las opiniones de profesionales de la salud mental, estudiantes de psicología y las trabajadoras de un hogar de niños que se llama la Casa de Amor para Niños, donde hice un voluntariado. Childhood, including the antenatal period, is a time of invaluable physical and mental development – the effects of which last a lifetime. These experiences are shaped by a host of external factors (such as nutrition or mental stimulation) that are heavily affected by socioeconomic status. A study by the United Nations International Childrens Emergency Fund (UNICEF) found that South African children in rural areas are more physically and cognitively delayed than their less-rural peers (2007). Este estudio analiza los factores que contribuyen a la desigualdad en el contexto público de educación en Chile. El trabajo de campo de esta investigación enfoco en las escuelas Liceo Miguel Cervantes y Saavedra y El Instituto Nacional José Miguel Carrera para analizar cuales factores que contribuyen a diferencias en calidad, y desigualdad en el contexto público. Esta muestra de estas dos escuelas revelo que los dos factores que contribuyen más a la desigualdad entre escuelas en el contexto público son recursos, y procesos de selección. Methodology: I lived in two Ashanti farming villages, Senchi and Okaikrom, for a total of eight days with four additional day trips. I also commuted to two other rural communities in the Sekyere East district. In these villages I conducted a total of 28 formal interviews of three headmasters, four primary teachers, 10 JHS teachers, nine JHS students, and two nurses. Within the schools I conducted a few group interviews and polls to gain quantitative data about student interest and education aspiration. This paper is meant to present the findings and analysis of a one-month independent study project on the topic of post-conflict education in Sierra Leone. By using databases and institutional reports, the study examines the issue of data availability of Sierra Leone’s education sector and the data collection process. Through analysis of documents and interviews with experts, the study identified the importance of education reconstruction and the role of ministry of education. Students are socialized into the institution of education at an early age. Obedience to authority is the objective of much of the learning done in school. Teacher expectations and perceptions of students affect student behavioral and academic performance within the context of school. Student economic and material conditions affect their availability for learning in the school setting. This research questions the application of discipline policies across a student body with diverse academic, economic and social histories. As well, yearly, thousands of Saudi students receive a large portion of their English education from these expatriate teachers.
