It was the purpose of this study to (1) compare the multiplicative abilities of fourth graders using the textbook form of learning to that of second graders using the textbook form of learning supplemented by the Cuisenaire Rods; (2) determine which area of multiplication might be stressed in the coming years to give the district a better primary arithmetic program; and (3) determine if the rods were as helpful to the slow learners as they were to the fast learners.

One purpose of this study was to compare a reading program taught using a basic reading text, supplemental books, and teacher motivation to a reading program designed as an independent, developmental, multi-level program that utilizes graphic and ego motivation. Another purpose was to find out if pupils in the program will show a significantly greater gain in reading achievement than do pupils in the other.

The purpose of this study was twofold: to formulate an aerospace education handbook providing pertinent information and material which may be woven into existing sixth grade courses in the elementary curriculum and to make a careful evaluation of one aerospace program in a sixth grade classroom. The problems were: (1) selection and organization of appropriate information and material for the handbook; (2) determining suggested teaching procedures and activities; and (3) preparation and administration of evaluative instruments for the program.

The purpose of this study was (1) to determine if a classroom teacher could effect an increase in interest in independent reading shown by an intermediate level class through an intensified program of stimulation as measured against the reading interests evidenced by a comparable class not receiving the extra stimulation, and (2) to determine to what extent if any this stimulation of reading interests affected reading ability as measured by a standardized reading achievement test.
