The purpose of this study was to investigate historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) athletic administrators (i.e., Directors of Athletics, Senior Women Administrators, Commissioners) perceptions of curriculum development and design of a graduate (doctoral) level curriculum for athletic programs. Few studies were reported in the literature of researchers investigating variables affecting the operation, effectiveness and curriculum development of athletics at HBCUs. Athletics curriculum continues to be debated amongst this discipline’s educators. Low reading achievement is an issue that plagues school systems across the United States. It is well established that students, teachers, and school styles have an impact on students’ reading ability and performance. This study aims to determine whether student and teacher demographics along with school-related factors significantly predict reading achievement in middle school. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of gender, teaching styles, student cultural awareness, professor’s accent, and ethnicity on students’ perceptions of foreign professors at a Historically Black College and University. Multiple regression was used for the analysis of this study. The predictor variables were analyzed through a pilot study to ensure that they were related to the dependent or criterion variable, as required of multiple regression models. The purpose of this investigation was to determine whether significant correlations exist between comprehension and vocabulary scores on the maze procedure test and the Gates-MacGinitie Reading Tests when these instruments are administered to incarcerated adults. The investigator conducted this investigation during the spring of 1983. The sample (N=299) from the population (N=l,300) was randomly selected from alphabetical class rosters of the ten Texas Department of Corrections units randomly selected for this investigation. The problem of this study was to investigate answers to these questions: (1) How do the performances of urban and suburban elementary teachers compare on the test of (a) mathematical competency, and (b) mathematical attitude? (2) Is there any relationship between mathematical attitude and competency scores? The research involved 186 urban and 166 suburban elementary school teachers employed by the Houston Independent School District (HISD). Data were collected through: (1) A personal data sheet completed by each participant to obtain background information.
