The purpose of this phenomenological study was to discover high school teachers' experiences with cell phones in the classrooms during instructional time at Quaker High School. The theory guiding this study is Jean Piaget's constructivism theory, as it argues that knowledge is produced, and meaning is formed through the experiences of one's physical or mental actions in their environment. The methodology for this dissertation includes a study design that utilizes a phenomenological study method and consists of thirteen teachers from various backgrounds and locations. Flipped Classrooms In The Humanities: Findings From A Quasi-Experimental Study, Bryce F. Hantla

This quasi-experimental study explored the effects of flipping the classroom on perceptions of students in humanities settings. This control-matched study examined the effects of the flipped classroom on seven subscales from a satisfaction inventory. Out of 130 students, n = 62 (47.7%) completed the study. Flipped classes reported a more ideal classroom environment on Innovation and Individualization (p < .001). Additionally, flipping provides instructors more time to focus on deeper learning strategies than traditional courses.

n this quasi-experimental static comparison group design, a homogenous sample of 128 American Literature (high school juniors) students were placed in a comparison and treatment group to determine whether e-readers can improve decoding skills and language comprehension, the two main domains of reading comprehension. Both groups took a pre- and posttest that measured their reading comprehension skills in both areas. The comparison group read a class assigned novel in a traditional paperback version while the treatment group read the novel on either a Kindle or a Kindle app on his or her smart phone or device.
