The purpose of this study was to determine if the enrichment and supplementing of creative activities relating to and incorporated in spelling lessons would bring about greater achievement in spelling than the traditional method of only stressing skills and principles. Practical application of combining the creative activities and the traditional method of spelling was used in the fourth-year classroom. To determine the effect of a teacher's reading literature upon the interest in reading books among sixth grade students, one group (experimental) participated in a twenty-eight week program of scheduled daily time during which they listened to literature read by their teacher. A second group (control) were not exposed to literature in this manner but otherwise participated in a similar school program.

Many pupils do not achieve success in reading by the traditional instruction. A few can be helped by remedial classes offering individual children help for specific difficulties. It was the purpose of this project (1) to develop a course of study incorporating the use of programmed instruction and small group discussion in a classroom situation, (2) to compare the progress of the class using the programmed instruction with a control class using the same unit plan but without programming, and (3) to draw conclusions as to the feasibility of using programmed instruction in teaching personal and family relationships at the ninth grade level.

The purpose of the study was to determine if changes would occur in the academic achievement of a class and if student attitude would change towards geography as a subject after being taught under an individualized instructional program.
