This qualitative case study explores the perception of weak organizational culture at one institution of higher education and the influence of weak culture on attaining organizational goals. The general problem addresses a weak organizational culture where department leaders operate independently of organizational policies and procedures, resulting in the inability to reach organizational goals. The study included fifteen survey responses from faculty and staff, two follow-up interviews, two observations of university-sponsored group activities, and current data from the 2021 Work and Well-Being Survey conducted by the American Psychological Association. Physician burnout is a three-dimensional work-related response to prolonged and unresolved stress. The prevalence of up to 50 percent is higher among primary care providers in the U.S. and is a significant healthcare problem. This qualitative multiple-case study explored workplace conditions contributing to physician burnout in Maryland State. In a purposive sample, the researcher interviewed twenty-one (21) physicians comprised of Medical Doctors (M.D.), Doctors of Nursing Practitioners (DNPs), and Nurse Practitioners (NP). Learning To Commit: Examining The Predictive Relationship Of Learning Culture Upon Employee Commitment, Timothy Russell Shives

This quantitative, correlational study investigated if a predictive relationship exists between an organization’s learning culture and organizational commitment. The research design for this quantitative study was three bivariate linear regressions as the statistical tool to test three null hypotheses (p <0.017). The predictor variable for this study were the organization’s learning culture scores, as measured by the Dimensions of the Learning Organization Questionnaire-Abbreviated (DLOQ-A), and the criterion variables for this study was the organization’s employee commitment profile, comprising (1) affective commitment scores, (2) normative commitment scores, and (3) continuance commitment scores, as measured by the Revised Version of the Three Component Model (TCM) of the Employee Commitment Survey. The population for this study was a diverse, cross-functional employee workforce at a medium-sized, information technology-centered public-sector organization numbering 430 employees. Data collection occurred through asynchronous virtual interaction through web survey methodology during the Coronavirus/COVID-19 global pandemic. The results demonstrate a positive predictive relationship between learning culture scores and affective and normative commitment, respectively; and a negative predictive relationship between learning culture scores and continuance commitment. More research is needed to investigate other factors that may account for the remaining variability in predicting learning cultures and employee commitment. Furthermore, research needs to be done to explore how the learning organization impacts employee commitment.

In 2014, Tennessee’s governor, Bill Haslam, introduced Tennessee Promise - legislation that enabled Tennessee high school and home school graduates to attend two years of tuition-free higher education at qualifying institutions. In the fall of 2015, Tennessee’s four-year colleges and universities experienced a significant decline in freshman enrollment. This quantitative descriptive study uses the theories of human capital, social capital, and marketing service theory to examine the impact of free tuition on the college choice. This qualitative multiple case study research project examines interpreter use for students who are Deaf in the public school system and juxtaposes it with interpreter use found in the work sector after the school-to-work (STW) transition. Semi-structured interviews with 16 Deafness professionals and 6 study participants who are Deaf, as well as workplace observations yield bits of data which are coded and themed for review. Results confirm that interpreter use is abundant in public schools and scant in the work sector.
