This research studied the effects of an intervention, which the participants, received in their first language. It analyzed the effectiveness of having extensive knowledge of phonics in one’s first language in order to read fluently in one’s second language. It explored the student's ability to transfer their phonetic knowledge in their first language of Spanish when reading in English, their second language. The research examined the efficacy of didactic material in Spanish used during the research intervention.
