This thesis will explore how we view death as a death-denying society, along with the importance of teaching children about death and grief early on in their lives. When talking to children about death it is critical to refrain from abstract language and instead use death-specific language. Children need to understand that death is a universal experience, that death is irreversible, and that the body ceases all life functions at the time of death. The purpose of this two-article qualitative study was to characterize children's literature about agriculture and to describe the perceptions of authors and illustrators who are responsible for writing and designing these successful publications. The frequency and severity of wildfire has increased around the world within the past two decades, due to shifts in land management practices, climate change, and other factors. The effects of these fires have led to an inaccurate public perception of wildfire as a whole. This overly-simplified, vilified perception of all fire obscures the role that it has played in shaping landscapes for thousands of years, and how indigenous peoples have applied fire to take care of landscapes.

Quality multicultural literature lacks bias, avoids discrimination, racism, prejudice and sexism, and accurately portrays social issues, historical details, and dialects in both the words and the illustrations. Many dual language teachers struggle to find the Spanish-language resources they need to foster true biliteracy. This project begins to address this problem by offering an annotated bibliography of some appropriate Spanish language literature for the dual language classroom. It also includes a rationale and bibliography and provides suggestions for using the texts to teach students to identify the literary theme and to analyze the language structures used.
