Not Another Plant-Based Documentary: A Critical Review Of Eating Our Way To Extinction, Melissa Plisic Jan 2023

Not Another Plant-Based Documentary: A Critical Review Of Eating Our Way To Extinction, Melissa Plisic

Animal Studies Journal

Despite mounting evidence that industrial animal agriculture is a formidable force of climate change and mass extinction, many humans remain impervious to this knowledge. Eating Our Way to Extinction attends to some of the most popular strawman arguments against veganism and is widely accessible. That being …

The Current State Of Communicative-Speech Culture And Competence Of Future Teachers, Hamid Sodikov

Mental Enlightenment Scientific-Methodological Journal

The study of the current state of communicative-speech culture and competence of future teachers is an invaluable sign of the existing language of each nation - the identity of this nation. In this sense, the communicative-speech culture implies changes in the motivational sphere, the psyche of the teacher, which leads to the reconstruction of the whole structure of activity. Therefore, it is necessary to form the professional competence of the teacher, but this alone is not enough. It is the training of the future teacher, along with changes in communicative competence and motivational structure of the person, should be aimed …

Other-Than-Ego Consciousness: Approaching The “Spiritual” In Secular Art Education, Nico Roenpagel Nov 2015

Other-Than-Ego Consciousness: Approaching The “Spiritual” In Secular Art Education, Nico Roenpagel

Artizein: Arts and Teaching Journal

Alternative worldviews bring forth alternative visions of education. This article sheds light on one contemporary approach to a spiritual worldview and its implications for secular art education. It proposes that high school visual art is a particularly conducive environment to engaging teenagers with existential and spiritual questions. An approach to spirituality grounded in a worldview of “profound interconnectedness” and “other-than-ego consciousness,” rather than religious systems, offers a timely basis for renegotiating the spiritual in secular art education settings. Through five concepts, the article bridges broader discussions on spirituality with concrete learning and teaching in the art classroom. For example, it …
