This capstone project focuses on the development of leadership skills development amongst a group of ethnic minority students at a middle school in an advisory class. Developing leadership abilities benefits students' personal development and impacts how they connect with their classmates. It teaches students the importance of looking out for one another inside and outside of the classroom, resolving their own social disputes as a role model, and encouraging them to participate in team sports and class activities. As of 2021, very few Hispanic residents in the United States held a college degree in comparison to non-Hispanic residents. Research has shown that, particularly for Hispanic students, financial aid increases college persistence. Hispanic Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) submission rates rank among the lowest, preventing many Hispanic students from receiving financial assistance. This issue is most prevalent West Census Region (WCR), where there is the highest concentration of Hispanic residents. The school has observed a drop in student grades in recent years and adopted the Check-In Check-Out (CICO) program to support students between the ages of 12 and 13 experiencing behavioral issues. Many adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities receive little to no sex education; as a result, they often struggle to have fulfilling and healthy relationships, experience limitations in physical interactions, and are at risk of being taken advantage of by others. Sommaro et al. The capstone was implemented at the Safety Nest, a wellness center that provides socio-emotional and mental health services to all students within Everett Alvarez High School through the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports multi-tiered system. The school serves 2,664 students; 90.2% of Hispanic/Latino ethnicity, and it is part of the Salinas Union High School District. The social problem addressed by the project is that “There are too many high school students in California experiencing emotional distress, which can result in academic failure, substance use, or suicide”. As traditionally ran public schools have focused more on testing in the past few decades, alternative methods of education have been rising in relevance. One model of alternative education, the Waldorf method, has an emphasis on developmental stages and the arts in a way that has been shown to increase test scores and reduce behavioral problems in their students. This capstone project examines the academic benefits of the Waldorf model of education and whether their curriculum is equitable for all students in one of the schools in the Monterey Bay area.

This capstone researched ways the non-historian can utilize the changing face of history education by implementing the pragmatic methods of John Dewey’s education philosophy called instrumentalism. There is a lack of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ+) representation in elementary school curriculum. This deficit leads to a lack of understanding of LGBTQ+ identities, limited gender role diversity, and a predisposition to teasing and anti-gay bullying among children. Therefore, I created a two-day lesson for kindergarteners at Del Rey Woods Elementary in Seaside, California. Participants were evaluated before, during, and after the sessions. Results showed an increase in understanding and acknowledging LGBTQ+ families.

"Name Her Reiko!": The Ikemiya Diaspora, Morgan Ikemiya

This creative-nonfiction project encapsulates a Japanese family diaspora to America beginning in the late 1880s. Through short stories, poems, and monologues, the author expresses familial struggles such as living in a foreign land and being Japanese in White America. The author reflects on her grandparents' time in the Japanese internment camps where they faced hardship and hegemonic oppression as well as her father's experience of growing up Japanese-American in Los Angeles. The stories weave together history, hardship, and race to create a unique diaspora story.

Drake containing Jimeno's and Hartnell's indexes of Mexican land concessions, from 1830 to 1846; the Toma de Razon, or, registry of titles, for 1844-'45; approvals of land grants by the Territorial Deputation and Departmental Assembly of California, from 1835 to 1846, and a list of unclaimed grants. The compilation of indices was compiled from the Spanish archives in the U.S. Surveyor-general's office.

The five previously published volumes of Kappler's Indian Affairs, Laws and Treaties, contained treaties and statutes relating to Indian affairs enacted through the Seventy-fifth Congress in 1938. Congress, by Title VII of the Act of April 11, 1968, 25 U.S.C. § 1341, authorized and directed the Secretary of the Interior to revise and extend Kappler's compilation to include all treaties, laws, executive orders and regulations relating to Indian affairs in force on September 1, 1967. This volume extended the work through the Ninety-first Congress, 1970.

The first two volumes were published under a resolution of the Senate in 1902, and shortly thereafter a second edition was ordered by a concurrent resolution of the House of Representatives and the Senate. This third volume included all laws relative to Indian affairs passed by Congress after 1902, together with all Executive proclamations, departmental orders, etc., relating to Indian reservations to date, a list of Indian trust funds standing to the credit of various tribes, and also several old Indian treaties which it was not possible to procure when the volume containing the treaties was prepared.
