Triptych For Brass And Percussion, Henry Harmon Dempsey

In the repertoire of the modern percussionist, the number of compositions which are worthy of performance is very small. The reason for this lack of repertoire is that the percussion ensemble as a unit itself is a relatively new medium. To bring out the qualities of the percussion section, music must be produced that is specifically intended for the percussion instruments. The author set out to achieve this goal in his composition which is written for brass and percussion instruments.

Until William Faulkner was awarded the Nobel Peace prize for literature in 1950, he was largely ignored by the average American reader, who was at first puzzled by the "undeniable eccentricities" of Faulkner's style and the "apparent perversity of his way of telling a story." The purpose of this study was to determine William Faulkner's moral vision through an analysis of his Yoknapatawpha County novels, reinforced by statements he made from time to time concerning his personal views.

It was the purpose of this study to collect data concerning the presence of that content in the Newbery Medal Award winning books which may influence children’s learning of American middle-class moral and ethical values.

The general problem of this study was to investigate and analyze selected social, political, and economic factors in Ethiopia that affect the continuation and development of education by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. The specific purpose of this research was to develop from this analysis of Ethiopia those alternatives and recommendations which would aid Seventh-Day Adventist leaders in the development of plans for educational work in that country.

The basic question was: Can the Seventh-Day Adventists system of education plan for the social, political, and economic changes taking place in Ethiopia?

The purpose of this study was two fold: (1) to determine if there was a significant difference in attitude toward the church and certain of its teachings and practices between those who were pressured into taking seminary and those who enrolled because they wanted to and (2) to compare the change in attitude of the students who were pressured into seminary with the change in attitude of the students who were not pressured into seminary after completing their first year.
