Establishing Optimal Tools For An Anatomy Laboratory On The Six-Point Mastery Learning Model, Alice Akunyili, Kanee Lerwill, Dietrich Lorke

Annual Research Symposium

Roseman University of Health Sciences (RU) is establishing a new College of Medicine in Southern Nevada with the goal of transforming Medical Education and Healthcare delivery. To this end, facilities and resources for an integrated anatomy education need to be established, considering best practices for anatomy education. At Roseman University the six-point learning mastery model is at the center of the process of delivering the study materials. This combination of anatomy lab design and educational resources, i.e., plastinated human organs, anatomical models, simulators and virtual anatomy tools, within our block curriculum, will allow for an innovative and inclusive competency-based anatomy …

Overlooked Dental Disease In Cbct Imaging And The Impact Of Oral Radiologist Interpretation, Jared Fausnaught

Annual Research Symposium

This study aims to underscore the necessity for a comprehensive interpretation of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) volume images obtained by dentists. The research demonstrates and quantifies potentially overlooked dental pathology, categorizing incidental findings into three groups: 1) requiring some form of treatment or follow-up, 2) necessitating follow-up (monitoring) only, and 3) demanding no further treatment or follow-up.

Benefits Of Using An Upright Laboring Position As Compared To Supine In The Second Stage Of Labor And The Impact On The Use Of Assisted Devices, Chelsey Cook

Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner

Abstract: This paper explores the conclusion that women and their infants are at an increased risk for harm when assisted devices are used during the second stage of labor. Traditional practices involving a supine position during pushing have been associated with an elevated likelihood of assisted delivery, necessitating interventions such as forceps, vacuum extraction, or episiotomy. However, emerging evidence suggests that adopting an upright position during labor may help decrease the need for these interventions and positively impact maternal and fetal outcomes.

Although comprehensive research on this topic is limited, the available evidence supports the benefits of an upright position …
